At
the point that most viewers start to operate the piece so that
it reads the space, they begin to feel fatigue, regaining self-consciousness
of their body, creating an awareness of their engagement in
the type of behavior that the narrative of the work is referring
to, the construction, determination and propagation of cultural
notions of body types and gender identities. Thus, the interactive
process serves to specifically locate the gaze in the viewer,
implying that the act of viewing is an active act of participation
in the discourse. |
